Homework 12/20

This week we learned more about friction and what a world would be like without it. We did many test to show what it would be like without friction to stop us. One way to see what this is like is to stand on ice where there is little amounts of friction. We showed that with no friction u would not be able to do everyday things. Like opening or closing a door you would be pulled forward when trying to pull open the door and when trying to push it open u would be pushing back. We also learned that when Kathy and Laura pushed on each other when they were both on carts even though Kathy pushed all her force on Laura some force was pushed back from Laura and pushed back Kathy. We learned more about friction and then started learning about gravity like with an apple in the tree. The apple is being pulled to earth by gravity and so for the tree to keep it up the force put on the apple must be the same as the force put on the apple by the earth.

10/16/09 homework

This week we learned about the eye and how it works. We also learned more about refraction and reflection. I learned hat when you see an image your eye filips it and then processes it. I also learne that the light in a triangular prism will stay inside unless you turn off the light. Some light will come out but the rest will continue to reflect around the prisim. We tested this by shinning a laser through the prism. We then drew what we thought would happen. It is important to now this because it tells us that light continues to bounce until the light is turned off. This can be true with any prism. We also learned about the eye and this can help us in life because it tells us how our eye works and shows us what exactly happens when we look at an image.

We learned that when light going through a mirror reflects the image upside down. We leared all this by doing expertiments by seeing if the light bounces through and flips. That laser beam pionters reflect the light and the more it reflects the more it dims.

9/18 blog homework

We learned that light travles in a straight path and you cannot see without light. We also learned that many light rays bounce off of one point and if you shine it at an object the light bounces off that object into your eyes. We tested these by putting flour particles in the air and being able to see the light trail of a laser pointer. We now understand that we can not see without light and we discovered things in 2 weeks that took people in acient times 100 of years.
